  • Christopher Freind Should Obama Politicize bin Laden Killing? Absolutely!
    Written by Christopher Freind

Coaches aren’t on the field, but they get credit for success.  Why the double standard from the Right? If you’re wondering why America is no longer able to make even the most basic, common-sense decisions, there are two simple answers: extreme partisanship and willful hypocrisy. Forget the desire to seek truth.  Many on the Right and Left are simply incapable of seeing the real picture, even if it’s smacking them in the face.  And those rare souls who do rise above partisanship to tell the truth are viciously discredited by their own, branded “traitors” and “sellouts.” The incessant calls for…

  • Christopher Freind Convert Oil Refineries To Process PA’s Marcellus Shale Natural Gas
    Written by Christopher Freind

Delta Airlines Refining Oil Doesn’t Solve The Problem Psst: Don’t tell anybody, but the worst-kept secret in  Pennsylvania is that the natural gas industry --- the only economic salvation our dying state had--- is leaving in droves, replaced by job loss, budget holes and despair. Like most tragedies, this one was preventable. Only common sense and foresight were required. But those traits were pumped dry long ago, so instead of experiencing a booming economy rooted in the rebirth of American manufacturing, Pennsylvania is now witness to yet another long exodus of our best and brightest.  And the Commonwealth’s march toward…

Corbett’s Colossal Cockiness Castrates His Credibility Candidate Choice Creates Calamitous Clusterf**k of Carnage “Stevie Welch sat on a wall (of cards); Stevie Welch had a great fall (winning a mere two of 67 counties). All of King (or is it Joker?) Corbett’s horses (jackasses), and all the King’s men (endorsements by 27 County Commissioners and 35 State Legislators), couldn’t put Stevie’s candidacy together again (4 of 5 Republican voters rejected the Welch-Corbett-Obama “ticket”). And so Freindly Fire’s prediction that Governor Corbett-endorsed U.S. Senate candidate Steve Welch would come in a whoppingly-bad third place was proven correct, though it didn’t take a…

  • Christopher Freind Corbett’s Love Affair With The Democrats: An Election Letter Back At Ya’
    Written by Christopher Freind

Well, primary election day is almost here, and some of the races have gotten downright nasty. From disingenuous, mean-spirited campaign ads to a Democrat masquerading as a Republican accusing his opponent of being a Democrat (did you get all that?), there’s something to satisfy everyone’s entertainment needs. Perhaps the ugliest race is the Democratic contest for Attorney General (an office that Party has never held), pitting a woman against a whiner: prosecutor Kathleen Kane and former congressman Patrick Murphy.  Murphy certainly can’t run on his record (there isn’t one), so instead has charged Kane with being a millionaire trucking executive.…

The Guv’s man, Steve Welch, is an Obama Voter, infuriating many in the GOP It’s the bottom of ninth, you’re down a run, two outs and a man on second.  Should he try to steal? Hell no. A single probably scores you, and getting thrown out ends the game. Simply stated, the risk outweighs the reward. But if, for whatever reason, the decision to steal is made, there’s only one rule: you damn well better make it. Fail, and you’re toast with the fans, the media and your teammates. For the political equivalent, look no farther than Pennsylvania Governor Tom…

  • Christopher Freind I Was Wrong To Question The DRPA
    Written by Christopher Freind

Later this year, it is possible --- even probable --- that the following individuals will all be in jail: former powerhouse Senator Vince Fumo, former House Speakers John Perzel and Bill DeWeese, Senators Jane Orie and Bob Mellow (both of Leadership), and former Representatives Mike Veon and Brett Feese (also from Leadership).  On the one hand, seeing corrupt politicians brought to justice is a good thing, as is all the money they are giving back to taxpayers via forfeited pensions. But there is a downside. While such offenders should obviously be prosecuted, people’s cynicism toward their government seems to be…

Illegal Immigrant Debate Turns Deadly

Written by Christopher Freind

Proponents of illegal immigration must be overjoyed. Given the overblown coverage of the Don Imus situation, attention was shifted away from Virginia Beach, site of tragedy two weeks ago when two 17-year-old girls were killed by an illegal immigrant driving drunk, an illegal with THREE prior DUI convictions.

In the immediate aftermath, there was virtually no national media coverage of the event, which in and of itself is a tragedy. It wasn't until talk show hosts Bill O'Reilly and Geraldo Rivera almost came to blows on the subject that the story began to garner national attention.

Imus notwithstanding, this story is far too important on so many levels to let slip into oblivion. Politicians need to be held accountable for their inaction, and the federal government needs to explain how and why it failed these girls and their families. For once, advocates for illegal immigrants need to be genuine. The untimely deaths of these girls should not be in vain, and this type of situation should never happen again.

Let's be very clear about what "illegal immigrants" actually are. By definition, they are criminals. They deserve no rights, except to be deported. Period.

Americans should demand that Washington stop the charades and do something meaningful. Accordingly:

1)      The wall on the entire southern border should be constructed, not just funded.

2)      Border Patrol agents should be allowed to do their job without fear of being prosecuted by their own government.

3)      ALL taxpayer funded assistance to illegal aliens should immediately cease, including education, welfare, driver licenses, and medical benefits.

4)      Above all, illegal immigrants should not be given any form of amnesty, regardless of whatever flowery name the president gives to such proposals. The passage of any such legislation would strike at the very heart of what America ostensibly stands for, and would be a devastating body blow to every immigrant who became a citizen the legal and honorable way. National security would be paralyzed (more so than it already is), and, at the risk of sounding overly dramatic, it would serve as a large nail in the Republic's coffin.

However, because this is the modern-day Politically Correct America, what "should" happen often times does not.

Rivera and company will continue making this a drunk driving issue, not an immigration issue. As a result, those who utilize common sense and logic in labeling illegals "criminals" will be venomously slandered as "racists," "bigots" "Mexico-haters" and "fascists"- the typical ad hominem attacks designed to get away from an issue that cannot be defended. An issue, by the way, that brings more Americans together in agreement than any other.

The biggest irony, however, is the spectacle of bedfellows who support illegal immigration, because it's one of the few times that the Right and the Left are in agreement. The Left, of course, exposes its "bleeding heart" mentality due to its desire to allow anyone and everyone into America, with no restrictions, a seemingly apologetic gesture aimed at erasing America's "racist" past. Perhaps even more sinister, the Right seeks the cheap labor that Big Business wants, and which results in large contributions to Washington Republicans.

Sorry Geraldo, you're wrong. Virginia Beach, more than anything, is about illegal immigration. Obviously, while no one can tell if those girls would have been killed for some other reason that night, one thing remains abundantly clear: If the government hadn't failed, that criminal - and that's what illegal immigrants and drunk drivers are - would not have been in America, let alone Virginia. And those girls, unequivocally, would not have died from his drunk driving.

Sanctuary cities, which do not require their police to report illegal aliens to the INS, even when they are arrested or convicted of crimes, should be eliminated. States should be forbidden to issue drivers licenses to illegals. And a mammoth deportation effort should begin immediately, across the board and without exception. Of course, none of those measures does any good if the way to get back into America is smooth and paved.

Given that we need a comprehensive "zero tolerance" crackdown on illegal immigration, we should look at how other countries effectively deal with the issue.

You want a good starting place?

Try Mexico.
